Dubbed “the new handshake,” professional headshots are now the first introduction to you, your business and your personal brand—shouldn’t that intro be the best it can be? With 93% of HR professionals and recruiters tapping into LinkedIn to find quality candidates—plus 2 in 3 on Facebook and more than half utilizing Twitter—that headshot has countless applications in your professional life. Should your profile pic be the family vacation, the fun night out or—worse—the logo or abstract shot? Or should it be a powerful, compelling and confidence-building headshot that makes prospective clients, employers and partners want to click “Connect?”

If you are looking for a portrait photographer who you can feel comfortable with and can create killer professional  headshots for you – that’s exactly what I do. A portrait session with me is relaxed and easier than you expect, and it’ll be loads of fun. Your shoot is all about getting awesome headshots or really showing off the character of your business; and whether it’s photos for your linked in profile or your company website, I promise you’ll enjoy yourself and leave feeling like you’ve earned a Starbucks muffin.

My commercial photography style is dramatic and edgy; I just love capturing people’s fascinating characters. My clients choose me for my killer headshot skills or the way my edgy style sets their personal branding apart. They can’t wait to replace those dreadful headshots they had done 10 years ago and love the flattering photos that I capture.

Shoots taking place on location will take at least an hour; but at my studio sessions last a minimum of 30 minutes.

Executive Headshots

Wikipedia defines professional headshots as "portraits often produced digitally and used for engaging in social media, the 'about us' page and industry specialty sites. A headshot or head shot is often used for branding and to showcase the business leader's life, style and personality while corporations will use the headshot to merge branding between the people working for them and its agency. Traditional headshots are still taken in a studio setting, though shots "on-location" or "in-the-field" continue to increase in popularity. In both cases, backgrounds tend to be simple. Subjects are often shown head-to-chest or head-to-torso." Generally executive head shots have the following characteristics:
  • 3 styles -
    • Classic Muslin
    • High key with White Background
    • low key with a black background
  • Full Crop - no shoulders or head cut out
  • More formal attire(business suit, shirt and tie)
  • Studio Setting or On Location with portable equipment
  • Most common, takes very little time or planning
  • Best for large groups of individual shots
  • Can be more dramatic for effect(social media profiles)

Cinematic Headshots

Dylan Patrick has pioneered the term "Cinematic Headshot".

Cinematic headshots usually are more edgy than a standard executive headshot. They can use any form of background (White High Key, Black Low Key, or Environmental). These headshots work great for those clients wanting to portray a more edgy style than what is achieved by an executive headshot. Cinematic Headshots work great for Social Media profiles, Personal Branding Materials, and Theatrical headshots. Generally Cinematic Headshots have the following characteristics:

  • Highly blurred background
  • More dramatic use of lighting
  • Outdoors anywhere! Even a back alley can make a phenomenal backdrop
  • Closeup of the face usually with tops of head or shoulders cut off
  • Landscape aspect with subject offset toward one edge or the other

Sessions begin at $245
